By booking an appointment with The Dog Lounge you automatically agree to be bound by these terms, set out here. If you disagree with any part of the terms, then with regret we will be unable to groom your pet. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to modify or replace these terms at any time. If you have any questions about these terms, please contact us.
Health and Welfare
The Dog Lounge follows the Animal Welfare Act 2006; therefore, we groom humanely and will not subject any dog to unacceptable levels of stress or discomfort. If it becomes too much for your dog, we will stop and then discuss with you the next steps. The full starting price for your groom will still be charged, even if the groom is only partially completed.
If your dog has any medical problems, The Dog Lounge asks to be made aware of them (e.g. seizures, arthritis, heart conditions etc) so that we may take whatever steps needed to keep your dog comfortable. The Dog Lounge are not liable for any pre-existing conditions and problems found during the grooming and the owner agrees to pay for all medical treatment. Grooming sick and elderly dogs will be at the owner’s risk but we reserve the right to refuse to groom a dog if we consider that it is too unwell to proceed.
If you wish or need for your dog to be sedated or medicated during the grooming process. The Dog Lounge will only consent to grooming your dog with the understanding that the medication is prescribed by a veterinarian and that their instructions are carried out accordingly. It is also understood that medication is entirely at the owner’s risk and The Dog Lounge accepts no liability to any problems caused by the sedation process.
Matted Dog Policy
Removing matts or felting can be very painful and distressing for the dog. The time spent de-matting is limited to follow the Animal Welfare Act 2006. We never de-matt puppies, sick, elderly, nervous or aggressive dogs.
We reserve the right to either decline a matted dog for grooming or to offer a humane clip off service only. The owner agrees to allow the groomer to make the decision in the grooming process if it is deemed too matted to continue. If you agree to this, the clip off service leaves the dogs coat very short.
In the event of any dog needing the clip off service, the owner should be aware that irritation may occur from the shaving process, as well as resulting in nicks, cuts and other potential problems, caused by the close proximity of the clipping blade to the skin. The owner agrees that The Dog Lounge will not be held liable for any after grooming effects of matt clipping procedures or problems uncovered by clipping off a badly matted, neglected coat.
Our normal grooming charge does not include de-matting, any de-matting or clip offs require significantly more time, labour, product and equipment wear and tear than a routine groom. You agree to pay all costs for the de-matting of the dog whether or not we are able to complete the procedure.
Troubled Dog Policy
If there are any issues with the behaviour of your dog, please advise when booking and we can discuss a suitable grooming plan, which may include the owner’s assistance.
Dogs showing nervousness, aggressive tendencies and other behavioural issues take special care to groom and therefore take much longer to groom. Respectfully, we reserve the right to charge accordingly. The Dog Lounge reserves the right to terminate mid groom (if there is a safety issue for either dog or groomer); however, the full starting price will still be charged, no matter how little grooming we have managed to complete.
The Dog Lounge reserves the right to refuse to groom aggressive or difficult dogs. The Dog Lounge reserves the right to muzzle your dog or ask you to muzzle your own dog. The client understands that they will be held liable for all bites/injuries caused by their dog.
Accidents
Although extremely unlikely accidents can happen during grooming. Our promise to you, is that any incident will be reported to you, the owner, immediately and if necessary, we will transport your pet to a vet.
If you believe that your dog has been injured due to the grooming process you must seek veterinary advice within 48 hours. The Dog Lounge will require a full written veterinary report stating the cause of the injury being specific to the grooming process for us to accept any liability or negligence.
Any veterinary bills resulting from a pet being matted, elderly, or from a pre-existing or unforeseeable condition will be the sole responsibility of the owner.
Flea policy
If we find one or two fleas in your dog’s coat, The Dog Lounge will continue with the groom but an additional £5-10 will be added to the groom price to cover cleaning costs and time as everywhere will need to be disinfected to prevent spread.
If more fleas are found the dog will need to be sent home and treated at home (costs incurred will be the owner’s responsibility). 50% of the groom cost will need to be paid no matter how far along in the grooming process (to cover loss of earnings) with an additional £5-10 for cleaning costs and time.
Allergies
During the consultation, any medical issues relating to skin conditions will be recorded and the grooming process will change accordingly. There is a sensitive shampoo option for dogs with skin conditions and brush will gentler. However, if there is any reaction to any products or to brushing etc, The Dog Lounge will not be held accountable for unknown conditions or allergies which are related to the groom, and the sole responsibility will be on the owner
Complaints
